Scotland: Fine Art Photography for Sale

Deep July cold followed us as we drove the northern Highlands. The dark, flat waters near Loch Loyal, the wind in the grasses, and the gray, foreboding clouds suggest both the vastness the land and the intensity of the weather.

During a day trip around the isles of Orkney, I couldn’t top creating images of the place. This sunset view from the ferry to John ‘O Groats lingers with me still. You’ll find many photographs from Orkney in my collection.

…I came upon the wonders of the Fife Folk Museum with its yards full of antique machinery. The detail of these gears caught my eye, especially against the contrasting stone.

Even the single track roads are on the map in Scotland, allowing adventurers like us to find undiscovered secrets such as this view of Glen Cassley at the end of the 11 mile road off the A839.

The High Kirk of St. Giles stands majestically in the midst of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile—with Holyrood Palace below and Edinburgh Castle above.

…we waved, backed around and down the hill, stopping to capture this charming croft house in the fields below. What history have these places known?

The Isle of Skye in Scotland is known for lovely B&Bs. This early morning shot at Limestone Cottage in Broadford represents many B&Bs charms ….

n America, outdoor “clothes lines” are almost a thing of the past. The ecologically and economically conscious British, however, are all about the Washing Line, whether rotary, fixed, portable, or retractable. As a result, everything we wore on our trip smelled fresh, and delightful scenes like this one abound.

We know Loch Lomond from song: “Oh, ye’ll tak’ the high road…And indeed those banks are bonnie!

In honor of American Veterans Day, I publish this image of one of our WWII colleagues, the Highlanders of Scotland…. a Highlander captured by the Nazis who escaped and was found by the American Army…. As he put it, “I went in a Highlander and came out a Yank!” Read the rest of the story!
