The lochs, hills, grasses, and skies of the Northern Highlands change constantly under shifting light and clouds. One minute the scene is dark and eerie, and the next moment sunlight dances across hills and fields as in this shot…. No wonder the Highlands are known for their drama, both natural and human.

During a day trip around the isles of Orkney, I couldn’t top creating images of the place. This sunset view from the ferry to John ‘O Groats lingers with me still. You’ll find many photographs from Orkney in my collection.

Just in time for Halloween! … Glenfinnan Viaduct, famous for its aerial shot as Harry Potter and friends head off to school by Hogwarts Express. If lucky, you’ll catch site of the steam train carrying muggles!
