In honor of American Veterans Day, I publish this image of one of our WWII colleagues, the Highlanders of Scotland…. a Highlander captured by the Nazis who escaped and was found by the American Army…. As he put it, “I went in a Highlander and came out a Yank!” Read the rest of the story!

Scottish lochs…tucked away in the Northern Highlands….

I love the freedom of walking in the United Kingdom, where you are welcome to open gates, cross fields, climb hills, cross streams, and feel a part of the land.

Brilliant yellow fields of rapeseed or canola fill the Scottish countryside in July…. hope you feel the wind gusts moving the grasses.

Many Scottish castles are grand and glorious, well-documented and open for tourists. But remnants such as these have little except local lore to hold up their remaining walls. I worked on this image to enhance the haunted, historical nature of the scene.

We ate a quick bite while 50 mile per hour winds bashed the thin walls of the cafe; hit wildly erratic golf balls across the cove on #18 of Durness Golf Course; toured the cemetery on a blustery hillside; and finally came to Smoo Cave.

…little known to those who haven’t been there, are the Himalayas! The spacious greens of the Ladies Putting Club, St. Andrews.

Dune Grasses and Sky #2: I was striving to allow the grasses to reach both above and below the earth making them central and connective.
