My sincere apologies to my followers for the delay in entries here. On August 24, my husband, Rex, fell ill and went into Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, Scotland, with bleeding ulcers. Ten days later he was well enough to travel, we’d made some wonderful new friends, and we were honored to have had great health care there (though sometimes too slow for his taste…smile).

A couple notes on that experience before I return to sharing tales and photos from Scotland:
RAIGMORE HOSPITAL was a blessing. Great doctors, many dedicated nurses, and good care. And they have the most extraordinary views from the 6th and 7th floor huge windows! Makes laying abed a bit easier!

DRAKIES COTTAGE just across the parking lot was a life saver for me! Thanks forever to Elaine and Ken (who also runs a taxi service) for taking me in –and then both of us!

MEMORIES:

* Dorothy who took me into her home to do my laundry for a day. Every woman should do this for another at some time in her life. There can be no greater gift!

* Neil who shared an end of the ward with Rex–a fine and dear man who continues in our prayers.

* The 92-year-old gentleman who “went in as a Highlander, and came out a Yank!” He had been captured by the Nazis and escaped. Taken in by the Americans, he fought with them for a bit and then we Yanks gave him a car, his American uniform, and $1000 and told him to find his own troops. I know both armies were proud to call him one of their own!

* Dr. Lambie, Dr. Greig, nurses Carrie (best wishes for the baby!), Doreen, and so many others!

* Elizabeth at Hertz, Inverness, who took such good care of us!

* The folks at Northwest who were caring and helpful in rescheduling our return.

* Jan at U.S. Consulate who made everything seem do-able and possible when we thought we’d also lost Rex’s passport (but found it in his shoe!)

We’re home safely now, but memories overflow…so expect new entries more steadily now! Lots more photography especially!
