Boundary, Durness, Scotland
Durness is at the very top of Scotland, in the northwest. We’d driven all day through the Highlands, from Dornoch to the Falls of Shin then up the A838 past wild and stunning scenery. We ate a quick bite while 50 mile per hour winds bashed the thin walls of the cafe; hit wildly erratic golf balls across the cove on #18 of Durness Golf Course; toured the cemetery on a blustery hillside; and finally came to Smoo Cave, a deep open cave with a dramatic inside waterfall. This view of the “boundary” is taken up from the cave. The other side of the fence literally drops off into the sea: the end. Click to read more about Smoo Cave or Durness.
