Scotland Fine Art Photography Photo of the Day–White Boat, Blue Cord (Orkney) (Nov. 1)

One of my favorite images, White Boat, Blue Cord, was selected for a large, juried, regional exhibition.
The white boat rested quietly in the harbor of Stromness where we stopped for lunch. To me, it represents the peacefulness of this farming island, but not the hardships surely encountered by the fishermen and the islanders who survive long, dark winters in this northernmost part of Scotland, the Orkney Islands. By the way, this link is one of the finest travel web sites I’ve ever seen–you’ll be enchanted by their history (pre-history through WWII), their people and events, and their scenery!
