Parkhouse B

Parkhouse B&B Gardens, Carnoustie

Sit awhile in the Parkhouse Gardens.

Golfers head to Carnoustie for the wild and wonderful golf courses.  We played all three public links: Buddin, Burnside, and the Championship; see previous blog for golf report and photographs.

But you need some R&R after the round.

We highly recommend the beautiful Parkhouse B&B.  It’s just a 10 minute walk (or quick drive) to the three public links golf courses and an even shorter jaunt to town.  Robin and Francis are devoted golfers themselves and very involved in the local golf scene of Carnoustie–members of the Caledonia Golf Club and the Carnoustie Ladies Golf Club of Carnoustie respectively.  All three courses here are public, no one belongs to the courses, and any one can walk them any time!   Members can join any of a number of clubs, each with a clubhouse, within the area.

After a clean up, we thoroughly enjoyed four very different dinners in Carnoustie, each worth a try by visitors.

Belmonte Italian: Excellent home-made pastas and a wide variety of other dishes with owner, Luciano, attentive at every table.  You don’t think of Italian when you’re in Scotland, but don’t miss it for  fine night out!

Ganges Indian:  Just a few paces from Parkhouse B&B, excellent appetizers through main courses.  Lovely design and suits the intimate couple or the large party.

Belmonte Fish and Chips:  Right next to Belmonte’s Italian, a perfect Scottish fish and chips event.  We took ours to the beach and enjoyed sunset near the Leisure Center.  Yum!

Station Hotel: a grand, old-style pub full of locals on a Friday night.  We were lucky to catch a tiny corner table in the smoking area which wasn’t as bad as it sounds as no one was smoking. The steak pie hit the spot on a chilly night.

Ah….no wonder the locals are happy folks and great hosts to the world!  It’s a charming town! We’ll be back!
