Carnoustie 2/3: Carnoustie Ladies Golf Club and Putting Contest
Posted by Sally on Monday, August 3rd, 2009
The Carnoustie golf links are all public. Clubs surround the properties, however, and that’s how locals enjoy special membership privileges. The LADIES Golf Club of Carnoustie is the oldest women’s golf club in the world, founded in 1873, as the sign outside their clubhouse, just across from the course, proudly announces.
We were privileged to attend the 2009 Ladies Putting Contest on their wide and wonderful 18-hole green in front of the Oxford Hotel/main clubhouse. About 60 women participated, and we’re proud that our B&B Owner, Francis Renay, came in second to her friend! Enjoy some visions of women golfers at their best! And hello to my own women’s club: the Jennings Mill Golf Club Ladies!
